CLEVELAND, Ohio — A deadly shooting inside a Cleveland west-side residence has left a family grieving and the community searching for answers.

Officers from Cleveland’s First District were dispatched at approximately 8:30 p.m. following a report of a shooting. Cleveland EMS pronounced both individuals dead at the scene.
According to preliminary information released by police, investigators believe Caraballo shot Rosario before sustaining what authorities described as a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Fox 8’s report, republished by AOL, said both were Cleveland residents.
Police have not publicly disclosed a possible motive or explained what happened immediately before the shooting.

- Whether other people were present
- The final medical causes and manners of both deaths
These unanswered questions are important. The term “apparent murder-suicide” reflects the police department’s preliminary assessment—not a final medical-examiner determination.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office explains that determining cause and manner of death can take anywhere from several days to several months. A forensic pathologist may consider medical findings, toxicology results, police records, scene evidence and other investigative information.
Cleveland Boricua did not locate a publicly accessible autopsy verdict or detailed police narrative for this case. The county’s online decedent-search system requires registration, and official reports must sometimes be requested separately.
Reporting responsibly while the investigation continues
Several websites and social-media posts have repeated details about the shooting. Some have included claims about the scene, the couple’s history and events allegedly preceding the deaths.
Cleveland Boricua could not independently verify those additional claims and is not including them as facts.
