Families gathered at Clark Auto Parts on Sunday for an afternoon built around school supplies, free food, youth services and neighborhood support.

A practical start to the school year

The community back-to-school event was scheduled from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Clark Auto Parts parking lot at 4507 Clark Avenue. The event flyer promoted backpacks filled with school supplies while supplies lasted and noted that children had to be present.

Photographs supplied to Cleveland Boricua show families lining the building and moving through stations set up across the parking lot. Volunteers distributed backpacks and supplies as parents and children waited together in the summer heat.

More than backpacks

The flyer also advertised free raffles, music, games and food, along with youth-focused beauty and grooming services including braids, boys' haircuts, nails for guests age 15 and older, and hair-and-lash services.

The photographs document volunteers serving hot food, popcorn and cotton candy, plus local vendor tables and community partners. Together, those details turned a supply giveaway into a broader neighborhood gathering.

A strong neighborhood turnout

No official attendance total was provided, but the visual record shows a substantial turnout, with lines stretching along the Clark Auto Parts building and through the parking lot. Families, organizers, volunteers and small businesses all contributed to the afternoon.

The event offered practical help before the school year while also creating a welcoming place for children to eat, play and choose supplies. Cleveland Boricua will expand this gallery as additional photographs are provided.
